Darren Booth
I am smitten with the lettering of Darren Booth. Never will I pass up an opportunity to ogle work that mixes art and design. Wowza.

And of course, this stellar piece of work:

In case you didn’t get the email, catch it in your RSS feed, or happen to visit H&FJ’s website today…Hoefler & Frere Jones released a new typeface: Ideal Sans.
They always say it best when describing their work: “Setting aside the easy pursuit of digital perfection, Ideal Sans favors handmade forms that help it achieve different goals: warmth, craftsmanship, and humanity.”
Check out the awesome specimens:

On that note, there’s something to be said for beautiful type specimens. I’ve always thought H&FJ does the best of them. Totally sells the typeface. Their color choice rules.

I am enamored with the work of Baltimore illustrator Alyssa Nassner. Hand drawn things always make me feel warmer than non-hand-drawn illustrations. Even the most spectacular things are somehow more spectacular when you know a person made them by hand (versus by mouse…)

The above piece is especially nice among various other nicenesses in Nassner’s portfolio.

A bloomin’ treasure trove of inspiration

Check. This. Out.  My friend Kim sent me this page from Gridness that completely infiltrated my finer design sensibilities and caused a minor meltdown: what kind of people create such great work!? Who are they and where do I sign up to be trained by them? Organization of information, especially with this level of minute detail and attention to style, never ceases to pluck my heartstrings just so.

Behold:

Yipes. One would have to have a really rad art-director to sign off on these, too.
